With unbeatable views, cool cocktail menus and spectacular settings, here are 9 of our favourite hotel bars…
W Retreat and Spa – The Maldives
This hip and happening resort has been recently restyled with a very stylish vibe. The pool parties are a must-go event, with resident DJs providing a super-cool suitably-mellow ambience throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
Viu Bar – Centara Ras Fushi – The Maldives
The best thing about this bar is the catamaran nets that extrude over the water – the perfect place to lounge about whilst watching the reef fish busily beavering away below… The photo simply doesn’t do it justice – the breathtaking views across the crystal clear waters stretch for as far as you can see.
Pierchic Bar – Madinat – Dubai
Strictly speaking Pierchic is a restaurant (mighty fine one) – located at the end of a long pier – but they’ve recently opened a couple of open air bars halfway along. The seats are positioned outwards, so you can look out across Madinat, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj Al Arab from an unrivalled vantage point.
Vertigo & Moon Bar – Banyan Tree Bangkok – Thailand
A rooftop bar on the 61st floor overlooking Bangkok city, you can see why this is one of the hotel bars that everyone talks about… the shape looks like a boat; it feels like you’re floating above the city.
Tamarind Kitchen & Lounge – Nusa Dua Beach Hotel- Bali
Recently opened, this place is magic – set right on the sand looking out over the Indian Ocean. The food equals the views, but it’s really the friendliness of the staff that makes this bar really special.
The Grotto – Rayavadee- Thailand
It’s hard to imagine a more romantic setting – the candlelight dances over the limestone cave walls, whilst waves gently rolling into shore and the sun sets into the ocean… beachfront bar bliss!
Sampan Bar – Shangri La Rasa Ria – Borneo
This beach-side bar is particularly worth a visit at sunset, offering far reaching views of the other islands. After you’ve finished your sundowners at the bar, you can take a guided night-time walk to spot some of Borneo’s nocturnal wildlife – a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Crystal Cove – Barbados
We love the idea of this swim up bar, hidden behind a waterfall. Add a refreshing Caribbean cocktail, and it’s all good fun!
C Bar – Calablash Cove – St Lucia
letsgo2 team member Magda has just returned from a trip here, and can’t stop raving about the views from Calablash Cove! The C Bar is a laid-back yet elegant place to enjoy a cocktail, and often they have live bands playing. If you’re lucky, you can sometimes spot the Caribbean equivalent of the northern lights when the elusive green flash appears as the last of the sun disappears.
