Forget about the diet. Forget about the exercise regime that you obediently follow back home. Give yourself – body and soul – over to the cuisine of the Bahamas. You can thank me later!
For this island archipelago is more than idyllic beaches, frolicking in crystal clear waters and lazy days spent under the Bahamian sunshine. Welcome to the ultimate Foodie Paradise!
In recent years, stunning new resorts have opened in the Nassau Paradise Island, bringing with them a host of culinary wizards, world-famous chefs and deliciously fresh ideas.
Taking local delicacies such as conch (sea snails), fresh fish and island spices, world renowned chefs such as Bobby Flay, Todd English and Nobu Matsuhisa have created a global sensation with their expert taste buds and passion and awakened a new wave of incredible dining options at this destination! Atlantis, Paradise Island Resort is a haven for new and inspiring cuisine, with delights such as Mesa Grill, Nobu and SeaFire bringing the total number of gourmet options in this one resort alone to 20 (!), with an emphasis on excellent service, skill and exploration of the senses.
During a recent trip to the Bahamas, I obligingly decided to try a variety of new and exciting dishes, ranging from grilled Mahi Mahi (tropical, warm water fish) to the legendary conch fritter. In all honesty, the only limit to my sampling was the capacity of my stomach! With so many choices and such a vast array of fresh produce, you would need at least a month to fully appreciate how gastronomically awesome the islands of the Bahamas truly are. Even the simple roadside shacks, painted in bright colours and frequented by fascinating locals, are absolutely fantastic places to sample conch creations and cold bottles of Sands Bahamian beer.
Whether you are craving Kobe beef, fresh seafood, white truffles, luxurious ice creams and desserts or a four-course feast with wine pairings…you will find it in the Bahamas. And with the deluxe Baha Mar resort complex due to open at the end of 2014, the destination will again be in the spotlight with new and exciting dining options!
And last but not least, don’t worry about having to check yourself in as excess baggage on the way home…calories don’t count when you are abroad, right?!
Happy Travels!
