It’s easy to assume that the only reason to go to Las Vegas is if you like to gamble, however I’m not a gambler, OK maybe I’ve done a few penny slots where the most I could lose is a pound, but it is certainly not the reason why I like to spend my holiday in Las Vegas. The casinos are not the only part of the glamorous hotels that is worth seeing. For start, the hotels are wrapped in their own little fantasy world with their own themes, each worth exploring. The Circus Circus Hotel, Casino and Theme Park is an iconic hotel with world-class circus acts and an indoor Adventuredome Theme Park featuring many rides and attractions, promising lots of fun for young and older children alike. Go back to the mythical days of King Arthur at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino where a recreation of “the Tournament of Kings” will sure to entertain you during dinner. One of the most recognisable hotels on the Las Vegas strip is the Luxor Hotel, which proudly stands with its majestic pyramid and illuminating spotlight which can be seen from space. My personal favourite has to be the dancing fountains at the Bellagio, using a dramatic combination of water, music and light, delivering spectacular performances to wow the crowd. The Bellagio also proudly hosts “O” Cirque du Soleil, an exquisite performance of acrobats, divers and swimmers creating a breathtaking show. The Italian city of Venice also comes to Las Vegas at The Venetian Hotel & Resort offering charming gondola rides on the winding canals, a replica of St Mark’s Square and over 80 boutique shops can be found at The Grand Canal Shoppes.

There’s no shortage of options when it comes to evening entertainment, the night-time is when the city comes alive. Watch the sunset from the Eiffel Tower at Paris for a truly romantic evening. On the roof of the Rio Hotel, dance the night away at the Voodoo Lounge with incredible views of the strip from the fiftieth floor. Dining in the restaurants or hotels promises not to disappoint with some of the best and varied food to be found – just name a type of cuisine and there will be a restaurant for it. There is somewhere for every budget. Purchase tickets for great shows from the wonders of Cirque du Soleil, to comedy acts, magicians and hypnotists to tribute artists or even ultimate showcases such as Rod Stewart.

Set in the backdrop of the stunning Nevada desert; experience the splendour of the Grand Canyon and its jaw-dropping scenery. Not only are helicopters and small plane tours popular but the Canyon can also be viewed from foot, boat or jeep safari. For an exhilarating experience, the Grand Canyon Skywalk suspends 4000 feet above the Colarado River with a glass bottom surface suspended above the Colorado River and The Grand Canyon.

Just minutes outside of Las Vegas, the national historic landmark of the Hoover Dam is well worth a tour. The observation deck set above the dam boasts panoramic views of the Colorado River and Lake Mead. The location also provides a bird’s-eye view of the Hoover Dam facility, including an unobstructed look at the dam’s mechanical components.

A Las Vegas Holiday is everything you expect it to be… lots more. I can’t wait to go back again.
