About the resort
Tucked away in the Lhaviyani Atoll, Hurawalhi is a scenic 40-minute seaplane flight away from Male International Airport.
This seriously stylish adults-only resort has 'honeymoon' written all over it, thanks to its pristine beaches, beautifully designed interiors and romantic undersea restaurant. There are just 90 villas in total - half of which feature private pools; it's up to you whether you choose to stay over the water or on the beach.
Among the dining options is the world's largest - and arguably the most beautiful - underwater restaurant, 5.8 (so named because it sits 5.8m below the surface). Constructed from huge panels of curved glass, it offers completely unobstructed views of the mesmerising aquatic life and coral reef.
One of the best-designed spas in The Maldives, Hurawalhi's Duniye Spa features over-water treatment rooms with glass viewing panels in the floor - so you can spy on the fish below whilst being treated to a relaxing massage. There's also a lovely lounge upstairs, with double day-beds and large windows offering spectacular views across the lagoon.
The resort also has its own resident Marine Biologist. She'll take you on guided snorkelling tours, and happily answer any questions you have about the surrounding reef. Water sports on offer include scuba diving, parasailing, jet-skiing, paddle boarding and windsurfing. You can go in search of manta rays, seek out dolphins on a sunset cruise, get marooned on your own private island for a full or half day, go night fishing, or visit a local island for a taste of true Maldivian life. You can also opt to visit sister island; Kuredu Island Resort for a round of golf; as one of the largest islands in the Maldives, Kuredu has plenty of facilities you can take advantage of - and it's just a 10 minute speedboat ride away.
